January,
2012 -
A few weeks ago on a bitter January afternoon, Kim and I picked our son Joshua
up from Kindergarten. As we watched the children spill out the school
doors with glee, we noticed a number of them were wearing jackets way too light
for the harsh January weather, some with shoes that were worn to the
point of holes, you get the picture... After a follow up discussion with a
teacher, I remarked to Kim a heartfelt yet admittedly generic comment we all
say at some point.... "somebody should do something." To which she responded, "we will!"
Under Kim's direction, a portion of our profits and used to fund the Pentiques Warm Kids, Cool Kids Initiative to make sure children in our area are
warm in the winter and cool in the summer.
Our Warm Kids, Cool Kids Initiative is simple.... if a child needs a jacket,
shoes, hat, or gloves - a child gets a jacket, shoes, hat or gloves... period!
We are beginning locally in our elementary schools on an individual basis, as
directed by the teachers. We work discretely with teachers; the winter
clothing is given anonymously to the children.
Unless someone like you cares a whole awful lot, nothing is going to get
better. It's not.
